The title of 13 reasons why is self explanatory to the book itself if you already know what the book is about. If you don’t know what it means you will soon find out when you read the book. But in my opinion if I was an author I don’t want people to already know what my title of the book means until they are done with the book. it gives you something to wonder and think about. The reason why the author chose to call these book thirteen reasons why is because the tapes she made. If I’m not mistaken she made 13 tapes telling why she committed suicide. Although it is a perfect title for the book I wouldn’t change it. i just wouldn’t let you know how the title is symbolic to the story until you read the entire story. But it would be like trying to find the main idea to the story people would have different opinions on how it is symbolic to the story making them think. I SWEAR I SHOULD WRITE A BOOK. My book would be promoted by Barack Obama it would be so good. Both the books I’ve read hate list and thirteen reasons why title just tells you the story. As a reader I don’t want to know what the story is about. Of course i want an idea of what it is but not the story in two or three words. If i was the author of thirteen reasons why i would call this book the story of a highschool teenager or somewhere around there. it doesn’t tell you the story you have to read to figure out what the book is about. The title gives the book a whole variety of topics. Like sexual harassment, bullying, or suicide. Thirteen reasons do that but it already tells you that it is thirteen reasons why this girl killed herself by the title. i mean but what do i know I’m not a new York times best seller let alone write books because I hate to read and write.

PREVIEW!
I decided just to do my bog on previewing thirteen reasons why two reasons because it two in the morning and because I haven’t really had the chance to get into the book. On the front cover it gives the title of the book and who it is by. Also says that it is a new York times bestseller. And the new York times is one of the best newspaper company in the world. “a mysterious, eulogy, and ceremony” says Sherman Alexei. When I read the first fourteen pages. It actually caught my attention it was spooky. The things she says during the tape put me in a position of thinking if I was one of those people that where going to be receiving that tape. The title tells you that it was thirteen reasons why she killed herself. Hannah explains it by recording it on a tape and giving the people that were the cause of this terrible tragedy. The back of the book is nice in these words “you cant stop the future you cant rewind the past the only way to learn the secret is to press play” the put those symbols in the actual words. The little phrase to me is creepy gets my mind wondering. I also liked how in the cover of the book it is a map showing you places where most of these events happened at. When I really decide to sit down and read the book I think I will enjoy it because the quotes on the outside of the book on the cover gets my mind wondering over all this might be better than hate list in my opinion.

Final blog of Hate List
Over all my thoughts on the book were good, actually great. To me the hardest part to read was the last part at the graduation when they were talking about the people involved deeply in the shooting. Nick was even included. The one thing I liked the most about the book was Valerie was looking back on her and nick and he brought her that cd with all the songs that reminded him of her and gave it to her. That boy got game, I literally highlighted that in my book because I swear I’m going to do that one of these days. One thing I didn’t expect at all was her and all her enemies before to become friends then her old friends kind of faded away from her. I know the feeling of how that is so I felt her pain when it came to losing her friends but life goes on. And she continued moving forward with her life which I was happy to see her making progress with. For a second I didn’t think she was going to make but I knew she would cause all stories have a good ending. For this being like one of the first books I have ever read. Actually sitting down and reading. Not wanting to put it down when it got good. Also picturing some of the scenes happen in my head. I have to say the author did a good job with this novel. And I’m looking forward to reading my other book the second half of the semester

Te.xT
In this novel the text is a little off to me. Especially with there being bullying going around through the school. Me being from a public school, the words they use in the book are of a high callabore. During high school there is a lot more cursing with the students. Like in the dialogue when she is talking to nick or the bully on the bus she should have used a lot more profanity in my eyes. I know when I was in high school there was a f word and the b word left and right and I know it’s like that in any other school for example Notre dame high school and Washington high school. One thing I thought the other should have changed was the dialogue between the students and the thoughts of Valerie because I know in reality and that’s how she want this book to come off, she would have been doing a lot more swearing and a lot more anger. As a reader it would have brought me closer to the book understanding her feelings and where she was coming from as a person. And I think some of my fellow students would agree with me. The text wasn’t bad at all I still got into the book, but it was like she didn’t sound like a teenager. She sounded like she was in her thirties. To me that’s one of the biggest things with authors and writing books they don’t put themselves in the situation or think of it as a teenager would.

THE TITLE!
The title hate list in a way if u read the book explains or sums it up in those two words. A good choose for this novel to me because it drew my attention before I even read it. One of the things everyone notices before reading a book is the title of the book. That decides if I’m going to read it or not. If the title has no point or is kind of stupid I won’t read it. The hate list is a main theme of the story. The list is basically the people that val hates the people that pick on her. If I had a choose of picking a title of the story, it would probably be something like a life of a corrupted student.lol yeah not good at all so ill leave the names picking up to the authors. The significance of the title is to grab the reader’s attention before reading the book. Jennifer browns hate list is symbolic to the story because Valerie and her boyfriend nick, wrote a list of people she didn’t like, just expressing herself not knowing it was going to go as far as it did. The list was basically all kicks and giggles. Nick took it to another level. I think if he was hanging around with val instead of that bum Jeremy the whole thing wouldn’t of happened. He was a huge influence on what happened and I’m sure the weapon belonged to Jeremy. Hate list was the perfect title to this story on my opinion.

EMOTIONAL VIEWS!
In this book “hate list” by Jennifer brown is a very emotional book only if you are really reading it. That means understanding what’s going, where the scenery is taking places. Trying to picture self in the situation is also a key factor in reading this book. Most times if you haven’t been in this type of situation (a shooting at a school or a child bringing a weapon to a school) you probably don’t know where the reader is coming from. Me on the other hand I’ve been to 2 schools, one even in middle school, and the other in high school. During middle school a child that’s in jail now got caught in the bathroom with a gun cause he was trying to “PROTECT” himself from being jumped after school by someone that was messing with him. Now I didn’t know him that well so I didn’t know how to feel about the situation. I always wondered if he would have done it during lunch and got it over with. That would have been devastating for the children and even the elder people. Almost everyone gets picked on for something and I guess my time of being picked on was when I was little. As I grew up it stopped, my mother always told me after I grew up “niggas don’t wanna fight you Jeraud you to big” and I thought that was funny but true. She also mentioned since they knew they couldn’t fight me they wasn’t trying to they was either trying to lose a fight or shoot. In the book I guess nick want as fortunate as me, and they felt like they could get off on him and he showed them who would have the last laugh. Honestly this might sound messed up but I don’t blame him at all he handled his business!

09/13/10
The book hate list is a very thrilling book, I’m not much of a reader but I’m glad this book is one of the 1st I may enjoy reading and hopefully I might get into it. Actually sitting in my room and reading this book when I could easily find something else to do. This is the type of book I would read Not only to get a grade but also to further my reading skills. this book to me is about a young lady who goes through life of a typical high school student with people she doesn’t like and people that make fun of her, that have problems at home and just in everyday life. Would I recommend this book for anyone else? YES, especially to kids in high school that are involved in this type of stuff either they are the one being messed with , the one that’s doing the teasing to see how the other person feels and hopefully put fear in their heart to see that anything is possible. And maybe it could happen at their high school , I’ve been to 2 schools, middle school and high school and I know people personally that has brought a knife and or a gun either to protect themselves or to get back at the other person that was messing with them. Would I change any element of the story? I really don’t know because I haven’t gotten into the book deep enough to decide if anything is worth changing. The little I have read I might have changed one small thing that could change the whole story and that would be not having the boyfriend die, the reason behind that cause I would want to know if everything that he did was planned by both of them or if it was just him, I’m pretty sure if he would have lived he would of snitched if she was assistant of the massacre. That’s just my opinion.
