THE TITLE!

The title hate list in a way if u read the book explains or sums it up in those two words. A good choose for this novel to me because it drew my attention before I even read it. One of the things everyone notices before reading a book is the title of the book. That decides if I’m going to read it or not. If the title has no point or is kind of stupid I won’t read it. The hate list is a main theme of the story. The list is basically the people that val hates the people that pick on her. If I had a choose of picking a title of the story, it would probably be something like a life of a corrupted student.lol yeah not good at all so ill leave the names picking up to the authors. The significance of the title is to grab the reader’s attention before reading the book. Jennifer browns hate list is symbolic to the story because Valerie and her boyfriend nick, wrote a list of people she didn’t like, just expressing herself not knowing it was going to go as far as it did. The list was basically all kicks and giggles. Nick took it to another level. I think if he was hanging around with val instead of that bum Jeremy the whole thing wouldn’t of happened. He was a huge influence on what happened and I’m sure the weapon belonged to Jeremy. Hate list was the perfect title to this story on my opinion.

EMOTIONAL VIEWS!

In this book “hate list” by Jennifer brown is a very emotional book only if you are really reading it. That means understanding what’s going, where the scenery is taking places. Trying to picture self in the situation is also a key factor in reading this book. Most times if you haven’t been in this type of situation (a shooting at a school or a child bringing a weapon to a school) you probably don’t know where the reader is coming from. Me on the other hand I’ve been to 2 schools, one even in middle school, and the other in high school.  During middle school a child that’s in jail now got caught in the bathroom with a gun cause he was trying to “PROTECT” himself from being jumped after school by someone that was messing with him. Now I didn’t know him that well so I didn’t know how to feel about the situation. I always wondered if he would have done it during lunch and got it over with.  That would have been devastating for the children and even the elder people.  Almost everyone gets picked on for something and I guess my time of being picked on was when I was little. As I grew up it stopped, my mother always told me after I grew up “niggas don’t wanna fight you Jeraud you to big” and I thought that was funny but true. She also mentioned since they knew they couldn’t fight me they wasn’t trying to they was either trying to lose a fight or shoot. In the book I guess nick want as fortunate as me, and they felt like they could get off on him and he showed them who would have the last laugh. Honestly this might sound messed up but I don’t blame him at all he handled his business!

09/13/10

The book hate list is a very thrilling book, I’m not much of a reader but I’m glad this book is one of the 1st I may enjoy reading and hopefully I might get into it. Actually sitting in my room and reading this book when I could easily find something else to do. This is the type of book I would read Not only to get a grade but also to further my reading skills. this book to me is about a young lady who goes through life of a typical high school student with people she doesn’t like and people that make fun of her, that have problems at home and just in everyday life. Would I recommend this book for anyone else? YES, especially to kids in high school that are involved in this type of stuff either they are the one being messed with , the one that’s doing the teasing to see how the other person feels and hopefully put fear in their heart to see that anything is possible. And maybe it could happen at their high school , I’ve been to 2 schools, middle school and high school and I know people personally that has brought a knife and or a gun either to protect themselves or to get back at the other person that was messing with them. Would I change any element of the story? I really don’t know because I haven’t gotten into the book deep enough to decide if anything is worth changing. The little I have read I might have changed one small thing that could change the whole story and that would be not having the boyfriend die, the reason behind that cause I would want to know if everything that he did was planned by both of them or if it was just him, I’m pretty sure if he would have lived he would of snitched if she was assistant of the massacre. That’s just my opinion.

MY READING ENVIRONMENT!

If im reading, im most likely in my room, regardless if im reading a novel or if im reading a text book for class and taking notes. I feel most comfortable in my room, i like it to be a certain way when i read a book, like in my room the temperature has to b cool and no distractions (quiet).  The book also has to keep me interested if not im easily bored and will throw it across my room and do something else lol (facebook, skype, listen to music,or SLEEP). Id say if i was reading a book its probably night time (during the week) because there is really not much to do or distract me from reading. also im nt the best reader so im nt quick like flash, but im not slow like a turtle either so i know what im doin. what elsee.....umm do i like to read? NO!!!!!! bt if i have too, consider it DONE!! THE MOST IMPORTANT THING WHILE IM READING A BOOK IS.....I HAVE TO HAVE A BIG GLASS OF KOO- LAID RIGHT NEXT TO MA BED..LOL
